It has been almost a year since the Suns traded Shaun 'The Matrix' Marion and Marcus Banks for Shaquille Oneill. The move at the time came as a shock even as they sat atop the very competitive western conference. Without getting into personalities and coaching philosophies it was a risky move. Some fitting words from wyz_sub on state of the Suns: For the last few years there has been this ongoing debate on the value of the Suns as "entertainment". The crux of the argument is that Phoenix, while fun to watch, has never made it to the finals (let alone won the title), so one has to question whether the team can be regarded as successful or, more to the point, whether it was worthwhile to maintain a "fun" approach to the game with no assurances that this philosophy could ever make them championship. The basketball season is still young but there are a few things that you have been able to count on over the past few years. The knicks will be a mess and the Phoenix Suns will have one of the highest scoring teams in the league. Only one of those recents truths ring true thus far, and yes the Knicks are still a mess. Game in Big Dallas Random Thoughts | (1)
The game is big. Nash and Shaq should both play and the clatter of a trade involving Amare has never been louder. It will be interesting to see how the Suns do. If they are crushed expect a trigger to be pulled.
