Brandon Jennings Playing Restricted Minutes as Shorthanded Bucks Struggle

PHOENIX -- If you thought the Bucks had any shot of beating the Suns on Wednesday night, then you clearly haven't been paying attention. There was a laundry list of things stacked against Milwaukee heading into this one, and the majority of them conspired against the Bucks in a 92-77 defeat that truthfully wasn't even that close.

Forget the fact that Milwaukee hadn't won in Phoenix since before Brandon Jennings was born (seriously -- Feb. 21, 1987), or the fact that the team was without productive bigs Andrew Bogut and Drew Gooden due to injury. Phoenix's defense has been much improved lately, and as recently as two games ago the Suns held the team that leads the league in field goal percentage -- the Boston Celtics -- to a dismal 34.2 percent shooting. The Bucks? They're just 29th in the league in that same category -- ahead of only the horrific Cavaliers, who by the way have now lost 22 straight.

Combine all of that with the fact that Jennings was on a minutes limitation in just his third game back since missing 19 games with a broken foot, and it's probably not a surprise that the team trailed by as many as 25 points in the third quarter, and finished the game shooting 31.1 percent from the field, after spending most of it shooting in the high 20s.

The Plague Rolls On: Critiquing the All-NBA Teams

Mere hours ago, I asked how the public was supposed to make sense of conflicting NBA honors, and how this state of emergency was good for the league or its players. Then, like clockwork, the 2010 All-NBA teams went out. Now, I am at the point of boiling.

First, there's the tension between All-NBA and All-Star. The case for: the All-Star Game is mid-season, divided up by conference, and must contend with the totally cross-eyed fan voting. Big names are guaranteed All-Stars, almost more so if they're past their due date. That's not the same as the league's absolute best players, some of whom find their way in only as coaches' selections -- or, as has been the case for Deron Williams, don't make it in due to position bottlenecks.

Guard positions are undifferentiated, even as the league overflows with amazing pure points, while center has yet to -- as empiricism would strongly suggest -- switch itself to PF/C. On top of all that, it's All-Star appearances that are most frequently mentioned in obituaries. That's the All-Stars. All-NBA, voted on by the media, is in a weird position. The All-Star team has the most ignorant voters set the stage, and then leaves it to the most informed to both correct obvious mistakes and show off their expertise.

Andrew Bogut Out for Season

He had been Milwaukee's best player all season. And now, the Bucks, whose magic number to clinch a playoff spot is two, will be without Andrew Bogut for the rest of the season.

Andrew Bogut Dislocates Elbow on Hard Fall

In the second quarter of the Suns' visit to Milwaukee Saturday night, Andrew Bogut fell hard to the floor after a transition dunk, pinning his right arm underneath his body. Writhing in agony and bellowing in pain, Bogut left the game. The injury looked serious. Gery Woelfel of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that an initial exam in the Bucks locker room revealed no broken bones, but a dislocated elbow.

Bogut leaked out as teammate Carlos Delfino rebounded a Suns miss and made the outlet pass. Bogut was a step ahead of Amar'e Stoudemire and dunked the ball easily. Amar'e appeared to at least touch Bogut's back as the Australian big man went up; Bogut swung hard off the rim and fell flatbacked to the floor. His right arm bent the wrong way at the elbow, and Bogut immediately cried out in pain. His teammates rushed over off the bench, obviously concerned. Bogut was quickly helped up and off the floor.
